| You will find a warm Lancashire welcome at Gelderwood Country Park. Nestling between the River Naden and Cheeseden Brook, this quiet adult-only caravan park is set in ten acres of lovely, well-maintained grounds surrounded by mature woodlands with riverside walks. Owners, Peter, Paul and Joyce are always on hand to offer help and local information to make your stay more enjoyable. Five-star, heated facilities provide guest comforts all year-round. | |||

Park Facilities Gelderwood Country Park is laid out around landscaped lawns with mature trees and hedges so you never feel crowded. Pitches are flat, all-weather hardstandings with a choice of grass pitches during the main season. All pitches have 16 amp electric hook-up. Clean, modern facilities are contained within a well-equipped, heated building which includes a disabled suite. Showers are roomy and there’s no extra charge for showers or hot water. Sheltered washing-up sinks are adjacent to the facilities building. You can buy gas from reception and find out about all the things to do and see at our tourist information kiosk. |

Gelderwood’s fifteen acres of woodland and riverside walks are ideal to exercise your dogs or to enjoy a picnic on the meadow in fine weather. For supplies, there is a supermarket in Heywood and local shops within a few minutes drive. You will find restaurants within walking distance of the caravan site with something for every taste from the country pub to fine dining. Our park is open all year for you to enjoy country pursuits or visit any of the attractions around Greater Manchester at anytime. You will find the Lancashire welcome is just as warm whatever the season. |

Whats on nearby Gelderwood Country Park offers a unique combination of country and city leisure activities. Our own woodland paths lead to the Lancashire and Yorkshire moors where there’s unlimited horse-riding, cycling and walking. The Pennine Bridleway passes a few miles away. The Rochdale Canal path joins picturesque old mill towns along the Calder valley up to Hebden Bridge where is a Visitor and Canal centre. Golfers have the choice of two local courses and there’s coarse fishing at Pilsworth Fisheries in Bury, all within ten minutes drive. |

Heywood is the terminus of the East Lancashire preserved railway which criss-crosses the lovely River Irwell on it’s twelve mile journey through Rossendale to Rawtenstall. Visit any of the events and towns in Greater Manchester from Gelderwood. You can be parked and enjoying central Manchester in half an hour. It’s an exciting city with something for everyone: theatres, concerts, shows at Gimex, The Lowry, Salford Quays, War Museum, football and retail parks. Manchester has excellent public transport with Metrolink to Bury. Don’t miss our famous Bury open market, it’s been voted the best in Britain and you’re sure to bag a bargain any Wednesday, Friday or Saturday. Then it’s just a short drive back to relax on your comfortable pitch at Gelderwood Country Park. |

How to find us Leave the M62 (M60) at J18 and join the M66 (signed Bury). Leave the M66 at J3 and take the A58 (signed Heywood). Arrving in Heywood, look for Morrisons supermarket on the left, keeping over to the right to avoid the filter lane into the supermarket. At the junction, turn left into Bamford Road. Proceed half a mile to the 'T' junction. Turn left onto Bury and Rochdale Old Road. Within 100 yards, turn right into Ashworth Road. Continue over the bridge and up the hill for 800 yards. The site is on the right (opposite the Scout Camp). |
